External camera flash

If your flash is more than, say, 10-15 years old, do a little research to make sure it is safe to directly hook up to a modern digital camera. Some old flashes can fry the electronics of a digital camera.

 Some strobes (and infrared strobe triggers) use high voltages in the trigger circuit. For mechanical cameras, this is fine — but many newer, electronically-driven cameras (especially electronic 35mm SLRs like the Canon EOS or for that matter, EOS digicams, like the 300D) can be damaged by excessive strobe voltages.

Snow storm

A major winter storm could bring up to 40cm of snow to southern Quebec by Wednesday. Which  means I will be adding new material to my online stock collection.
