Air Transat, Best Canadian carrier

Air Transat, named World's Best Leisure Airline in 2018, is standing out once again among travellers, who have rated it the top Canadian carrier in Protégez-Vous magazine's airlines ranking. Air Transat is in fourth place among the 11 carriers evaluated.

Protégez-Vous compiled its best airlines ranking based on an online survey conducted October 5-12, 2018, among 2,513 respondents who evaluated various aspects of their flying experiences in the previous two years, including the ticket-buying and seat-booking process, pre-flight welcome, staff courteousness, inflight service, aircraft cleanliness, entertainment and meals available and value for money. The ranking also takes into account flight on-time performance

Air Canada gets an award

I needed a photo to accompany the adjacent text.  I specialize in outdoor photos, so it was just natural for me to head off to the airport looking for an Air Canada plane to photograph.  I got this shot of an Air Canada Express plane painted in the new Air Canada colors as it was approaching the airport to land.

Air Canada was today named Best Airline in North America by the 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards at the International Paris Air Show.

 It is the sixth time in eight years Canada's flag carrier has been named the continent's best airline by Skytrax, whose survey of almost 20 million air travellers is recognized as the global benchmark of industry excellence.

Shooting travel photos

People are surprised to find out that I don't travel to the far corners of the world to shoot travel photos.  I have more that enough material in my region to cover.  The Eiffel tower and the leaning tower of Pisa have been been overdone and have no appeal to publishers. Find something different and unique, usually in your own backyard.  Be original and creative look around your area, and I'm sure you will find something that hasn't already been covered 100 times.

Ile d'Orleans

Ile d'Orleans The island, situated 5 kilometres down-river from Quebec City, is cradled between the Laurentian Plateau or Canadian Shield and the Appalachian Mountains. Its eastern point marks the boundary between the St. Lawrence and its estuary. The layout of the land reminds us of the island's seigneurial past. Today with its 7000 inhabitants, the island maintains its longstanding agricultural tradition producing a wide range of products and also offers an exceptional concentration of horticultural diversity. Sainte-Anne de Beaupre Basilica The Basilica's construction began in 1923, after a fire destroyed the first Basilica in March of 1922. This new construction was oriented towards the future, all the while remaining faithful to the past. There was need for a large church, and the local people wanted it to be beautiful so pilgrims would be proud of it. Historic district of Quebec city is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Québec was founded by the French explorer Champlain in the early 17th century.

It is the only North American city to have preserved its ramparts, together with the numerous bastions, gates and defensive works which still surround Old Québec.

The Upper Town, built on the cliff, has remained the religious and administrative centre, with its churches, convents and other monuments like the Dauphine Redoubt, the Citadel and Château Frontenac. Together with the Lower Town and its ancient districts, it forms an urban ensemble which is one of the best examples of a fortified colonial city.
